The ongoing bushfire crisis has claimed 28 lives and destroyed six million hectares of land as more than one-billion dollars in insurance claims have been lodged.

Residents whose communities have been ravaged by the bushfires this season have made up to 12,000 claims with up to 2,000 homes lost.
