One person was killed and 10 people were injured in a fiery crash caused by a 13-year-old boy driving a stolen car trying to evade police in the Northern California city of Woodland, police say.

The pursuit began when an officer tried to pull over the car and it sped away erratically Saturday in Woodland, northwest of Sacramento, police said.

The car collided with two other cars at an intersection, causing at least two of the vehicles involved to catch fire, the Woodland Police Department said in a statement. “One person died and nearly one dozen people were injured,” the police statement said. The extent of the injuries weren't immediately known Sunday.The 13-year-old was arrested on suspicion of two felonies, vehicular manslaughter with negligence and evading an officer causing injury, police said.Copyright AP - Associated Press

The National Park Service on Friday said the birds that died last month tested positive for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza. The giant endangered vultures all were in a flock that flies throughout northern Arizona and southern Utah. The virus hasn’t been detected in other populations in California or Mexico’s Baja California. The California condor is one of the world’s largest birds with a wingspan of up to 10 feet. It was nearly extinct by the 1970s but there are more than 300 in the wild now thanks to a captive breeding program.
