Love might not be for everyone, but the DC Universe is filled with plenty of characters that prove heroes can find happiness with another person.
There’s a belief that heroes in the DC Universe can’t ever find true happiness. Some fans feel that heroes aren’t allowed to be in loving, stable relationships. While there have been some missteps and unfortunate incidences with comic book couples, the truth is heroes can have functioning partnerships.
9 Apollo and Midnighter At first, it might seem like Apollo and Midnighter are just a pastiche of Superman and Batman. But a deep and loving bond between the two has made them one of the most notable comic book couples. Despite being created as parodies of the World’s Finest, Midnighter and Apollo’s relationship has always been treated with respect. They’ve protected one another fiercely on the battlefield and made their commitment to one another official in a wedding ceremony.
6 Aquaman and Mera The love of Aquaman and Mera is a modern-day fairy tale in the DC Universe. Mera came from the secretive Xebel kingdom and was sent to assassinate Arthur Curry. However, the two wound up falling for one another and got married. Artur and Mera's relationship has had its lows, such as a continuing war between their two worlds and the painful loss of their infant son. But throughout it all, the two’s love has weathered every storm that’s come their way.
3 Big Barda and Mister Miracle The love between Big Barda and Mister Miracle is one of the most inspiring stories in the DC Universe. Barda and Scott Free’s relationship began on the harsh environment of Apokolips, where Barda was born and Scott was forced to live. The two fell for one another nearly at first sight, Mister Miracle admiring her strength and Big Barda falling for the goodness within Scott.
