These Lost plotlines almost happened.

For six seasons, Lost kept its massive audience on their toes, constantly throwing new mysteries into the pot while viewers were still trying to piece old ones together.
10 Jack Was Supposed To Die In The Pilot Jack Shepherd is the hero of Lost, from the show's opening sequence, to the final conflict. Funnily enough, J.J. Abrams' original plan was for Jack to die in the pilot, hoping to shock audiences with an early plot twist. Before Matthew Fox starred in the role, Michael Keaton was actually interested in the role. After the plan to kill off Jack was changed, Keaton lost interest, as he wasn't into committing to a full TV series.
7 Ben And Desmond Were Limited Roles Two of the best characters in Lost, Benjamin Linus and Desmond Hume, were added in season 2. According to the Official Lost Podcast, these additions were actually only meant to be on the show for three episodes each. However, both characters and actors received extremely positive responses. Ben was brought back for five more episodes that season, and Desmond returned to be the flashback character in the season 2 finale.
5 The Heart Of The Island Was Going To Be A Volcano In the third season DVD extras, Lost producers discussed the episode "The Man Behind the Curtain." The episode sees Ben's upbringing for the first time. In the episode's DVD commentary, the island's volcano was described to be very important. The original plan was for the Heart of the Island, the glowing cave where the Smoke Monster is created, to actually be in the volcano.
