8 A World of His Own Keenan Wynn stars as Gregory West in The Twilight Zone season 1, episode 36 "A World of His Own," a mild-mannered and affable playwright. When his wife, Victoria, spots him sharing a drink with a woman named Mary, she barges in to see Gregory destroying a tape and finds no trace of Mary. Gregory then tells Victoria that any character he describes in his dictation machine comes to life.
Jeff says he would only leave if his girlfriend agrees to marry and go with him, to which she happily agrees too. In the closing narration, Serling says that Jeff and his wife are still together and alive, and they have a son, who is a United States senator. In the end, it is a delightful love story, but it does leave viewers to ponder what actually happened to Jeff.
As the story progresses, Henry revisits the spot where he discovered the sack, only to be greeted by an elf, who says she has been awaiting his arrival. At the end of the episode, Henry is seen riding across the sky in his sleigh, jolly as can be with his new job. This is an overwhelmingly heartwarming episode for The Twilight Zone, as everyone gets what they want for Christmas and Henry becomes Santa Claus.
All of them tell Professor Fowler how he inspired them, making Fowler realize that through his teaching he was able to inspire his students to do good in the world. This revelation provides him with a newfound scene of purpose. "The Changing of the Guard" showcases the power of education and mentorship to shape lives, emphasizing that the influence of a teacher can extend far beyond the classroom.
