A native of the Dominican Republic, Astros second-year shortstop Jeremy Peña will get to show his love of country during the World Baseball Classic in March.Eleven members of the Astros’ 26-man World Series roster will compete for their countries in next month’s World Baseball Classic, the tournament announced Thursday night.
Most of the Astros’ participants are in Pool D, which will play its games at loanDepot Park in Miami. Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico are all part of the five-team pool. Closer Ryan Pressly and outfielder Kyle Tucker are the only two Astros playing for Team USA, which is in Phoenix-based Pool C alongside Mexico, Canada, Colombia and Great Britain.
