On Thursday, May 23, 2013, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority approved an underground train station in Leimert Park Village in the heart of South Los Angeles, ending two years of limbo for the proposed station in the historic hub of South Los Angeles.
The $80 million underground station will be along the Crenshaw Line. His mother, Azzizah Roots had this to say about the new train station; “It will be wonderful because it will bring a large group of people in the area and more currency to the business owners. That’s what we need.” Azzizah and her husband, Ankh Sa Roots, owns Back To Kemet Community Business Co-op in Leimert Park Village.
