One of the stars of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why, Tommy Dorfman, has revealed she has been "privately identifying" as a trans woman for over a year.The actor revealed she is transgender in an interview with Time MagazineDorfman is best known for a supporting role in 13 Reasons Why, where she played Ryan Shaver, but has also appeared in a recurring role on Jane the Virgin.
"Coming out is always viewed as this grand reveal, but I was never not out," she said.Posting the news to her 1.4 million Instagram followers, Dorfman said she was "especially grateful to every single trans person who walked this path, broke down barriers, and risked their lives to live authentically and radically as themselves before me".Dorfman told the magazine she was no longer interested in playing male roles.
