It’s always festival season in San Antonio. This weekend sees the return of Taco Fest: Music y Mas, and the Tejano Conjunto Festival is just around the corner. Here’s a look at the weekend’s arts & entertainment highlights.Once again performing independently of the orchestra, the striking musicians will play works by Beethoven, Mozart and Skoryk. Former music director Sebastian Lang-Lessing conducts.
The finned femmes of folklore take over Sea Life San Antonio with the downtown aquarium’s first-ever mermaid experience. Marvel as mermaids dive underwater with Sea Life’s sharks, rays and rescued sea turtles. Visitors also can grab a selfie with the sirens on dry land at mermaid meet and greets. Mermaid performances 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2:30-5:30 p.m. Friday-Sunday , Sea Life Aquarium, Shops at Rivercenter, 849 E. Now working solo, he is making heartfelt instrumental albums such as “Boundless.
This rocking Liverpool duo has spun a series of songs reminiscent of the classic sounds of the American South on their debut album “I’m Not Sorry, I Was Just Being Me.” Anyone familiar with the deadpan tones of artists such as Kurt Vile will find a home in the group’s work.Old 97’s return to town this weekend for a show at Floore’s Country Store.This annual downtown festival returns with a music lineup topped by Mexican rock band Kinky and conjunto ace Santiago Jimenez Jr.
