In 1924 George Gillespie was one of eight family members to donate 1,000 pounds in order to establish Knox Grammar.He was also responsible for preventing the closure of its preparatory school “Ewan House” during the Great Depression, when the school struggled to meet its mortgage repayments.George Gillespie lived at Roseburn for more than 52 years with his four daughters and seven servants. Over time, the land was subdivided and now sits at 3,714sq m.

Selling agent Di Baker says the current owners recently completed a renovation which included the self-contained suite and the addition of several resort features such as new pool heating, a spa and an outdoor kitchen.“The grounds are spectacular and it is a wonderful house for entertaining.”There are seven bedrooms in total.Property records show the home is owned by the Krelle family, who paid $4.8m in 2014.
