Emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash south-east of Melbourne on Thursday morning after 16 children were left trapped in a bus on their way to school.

Ten children have been rescued by emergency crews after becoming trapped in their school bus following a crash in Fish Creek, Gippsland.

According to the Herald Sun emergency services rushed to Meeniyan-Promontory Rd at about 8.17am on Thursday after reports of a crash. It is understood that a high angle rescue crew was called in at 9am after issues prying open the door.Ambulance Victoria is on the scene to assess the children but there are currently no reported injuries.More to come.
