An 18-year-old is behind bars after a teenager was fatally shot in West Dallas last week.
Cristian Corpus Tovar was booked into jail Friday on a charge of murder in the slaying of 17-year-old Jorge Hernandez. His attorney, Debbie Sánchez, declined to comment on the case.a witness drove Hernandez to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in IrvingThe witness told Dallas police that he picked Hernandez up from Thomas Jefferson High School along with two other males, whom he only knew by their nicknames, an arrest-warrant affidavit says.
The witness said he was driving when the group stopped to help a friend change a tire in the 10200 block of North Walton Walker Boulevard, near Singleton Boulevard. The group got back into the car with Hernandez in the passenger seat and started driving off, the affidavit says. As they were pulling away, the witness heard a gunshot. He said the person in the seat behind Hernandez was holding a gun, and Hernandez said he’d been shot, according to the affidavit.Employees at the school identified Corpus and the other male after viewing surveillance footage, the affidavit says. It’s unclear whether the other person is facing charges.Corpus was interviewed at Dallas police headquarters and declined to speak without an attorney present, the affidavit states.
