A publishing house run by three-times-bankrupt Edwin Jason McBride has gone into liquidation.

More than 500 authors and businesses have been left high and dry after a publishing house operated by a triple bankrupt went bust.

Liquidators are still sifting through the financial wreckage of the Ballarat-based company and so far have found little of value. Among the debts are $158,000 owed to the Australian Taxation Office and an unpaid gas bill. They discovered two ANZ Bank accounts linked to the company, one $24,948.24 in debit and one containing 26¢. Assets included a 2009 Holden ute sold for $6050 and some office supplies, which will be auctioned off.

The company had become the “targeted victim of a malicious and unfounded slander campaign in the newspaper”, he told authors, blaming disgruntled former employees and previous authors who he claimed wished to damage the business.“The charge for illegal porn distribution is also correct and this was the unfortunate circumstance of a poor action on my part in response to poor actions from others.”
