Two Jersey City residents were arrested after a 5-year-old ingested methamphetamine on Friday, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said. The 20-year-old mother of the child and her boyfriend, 22, were charged with with endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a controlled substance, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement Saturday.
The names of the pair were not released to protect the identity of the child, who is in good health, the prosecutor’s office said.Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited her office’s Special Victims Unit for the arrest and thanked the Jersey City Police Department and the Jersey City Public Schools for helping with the investigation.
