Isle of Anglesey County Council's leader has called the announcement 'devastating news' for staff and their families.

A poultry processing plant in North Wales is set to close at the end of the month, with more than 700 jobs set to be lost.

2 Sisters in Llangefnni, Anglesey, is set to close on 31 March after no alternatives to closure were found. Isle of Anglesey County Council's leader has called the announcement"devastating news for the workforce and their families". It is expected that only 25-30 members of staff of the current 730 will be employed on-site as of 1 April.The final formal consultation meeting between company bosses, Unite and employee representatives was held on Wednesday and it was confirmed that there were"no viable alternatives to closure".

The 45-day consultation process formally ends on Sunday, 12 March, but both parties have agreed that consultation has been exhausted.
