2-year-old boy fatally injured in Bay Terraces home; mother's boyfriend arrested [Breaking]
A 2-year-old boy was fatally injured in a Bay Terraces home Monday, and his mother’s boyfriend was arrested in connection with the toddler’s death, San Diego police said.
Police received a call about a child who was not breathing about 2:40 p.m. at a home on Morton Way near Parkside Avenue. Officers who responded started medical aid, and paramedics took the boy to a hospital, where he died, Lt. Jud Campbell said. A preliminary investigation revealed “the child had sustained serious traumatic internal injuries that were indicative of physical child abuse,” the lieutenant said in a statement.Child abuse detectives launched an investigation, but their findings and the severity of the boy’s injuries led homicide investigators to take over.
Investigators later determined the boyfriend of the boy’s mother caused the injuries, Campbell said. McArvin Caringal-Sanchez was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of murder.
