A new tram overpass is hoped to soothe a traffic bottleneck on a major intersection in Adelaide that is causing headaches for about 26,000 motorists each day.
Nearby suburban streets have also been left packed as motorists try to avoid the notorious intersection.Long queues form on Morphett Road thanks to boom gates that are down for up to 16 minutes each hour. It's hoped the overpass will improve the flow of traffic as well as provide better road safety at the intersection, where there have been more than 100 crashes in the last five years.
