Toyota and Gazoo Racing have a rich history in rally, so why not celebrate it and their current Rally1 car with this awesome GR Corolla concept?
Going from a high-grip street car to a rally racer is no easy task, but Marty Schwerter and the Toyota Motorsports Garage were more than up for the task. The first thing done was to strip the car to its bare shell. From there, the rollcage was built inside using TIG welded 1.75 inch by 0.095 drawn over mandrel steel tubing.
With the interior done and ready for occupant safety, comfort, and communication, the exterior could take some focus. As you can see, as a new body kit was created. This features massive 3-inch flares using 20 gauge steel, and matching side skirts are fully carbon. The massive flares help extract and direct air around the wheel openings for maximum aerodynamic efficiency as a rally car is expected to have while flying around at high speeds and jumps. This includes an equally massive rear wing and integrated rear spoiler made from carbon fiber. The front air dam is also made from carbon and is 4.5 inches tall.
