The updated Toyota GR Yaris is now on sale in Australia, featuring more power and torque, and upgraded safety technology and interior styling. An eight-speed automatic transmission option – the first self-shifter for the pint-sized hot hatch – will follow midway through 2025. The range opens at $55,490 before on-road costs for the GT manual, with the automatic costing an extra $2500. There’s a new “motorsport-inspired cockpit design”, with a new dashboard featuring a centre stack angled towards the driver, plus a driver’s hip point that has been lowered by 25mm to free up 37.5mm of headroom and therefore make it easier to drive with a helmet on. Toyota has also repositioned switches for ease of use, even when the driver is harnessed to the seat, and improved visibility by moving the rear-view mirror and lowering the upper edge of the centre stack.
