A resurrection of the long-dead Scout SUV is coming–as an electric vehicle produced by Volkswagen in 2026.
, the company said in a release that it plans to develop"a new technical platform concept" for its new"rugged" offerings. It provided no further details, but we expect two motors minimum, one in the front and one in the rear.
Three or four motors is possible, but VW executives have expressed a desire to keep the price reasonable. As much range as possible is also necessary for serious backcountry exploration and the ability to tow and haul gear.
