Tens of thousands of litres of drinking water has been stolen from a drought-stricken community on the NSW far-north coast.

Tweed/Byron Duty Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Luke Arthurs said the act of stealing water during a time of hardship for much of New South Wales is shocking.
