Police are trying to piece together how more than two dozen cars were stolen in a single night from a dealership in Queens, and track down those responsible
Following a year of record-high vehicle thefts around the state, NJ Gov. Phil Murphy held a news conference on Monday. NBC New York's Jen Maxfield reports.
Car thefts haven't just been a problem in New York, as over the river in New Jersey, the issue has been rampant. After a record year for car thefts in 2021, 2022 has been even worse. In Bergen County alone, thefts were up more than 50 percent compared to 2021, according to the state attorney general.
But there was at least some good news as of late, as the rate of car thefts in September and October for 2022 was down compared to the previous year.
