For now, Texas needs help on both sides. The Longhorns allowed 27 sacks in 12 games, and at times the quarterbacks were under siege. The defense ranked eighth in the Big 12 and was particularly vulnerable to the run. The Longhorns’ fifth-ranked recruiting class in the 247Sports composite included 15 linemen. That’s a start. But improvement from holdovers will be a key.was even more dynamic than advertised. Injuries and transfers then depleted the depth chart late in the season.
One key player to watch is Wyoming transfer Isaiah Neyor, who averaged nearly 20 yards a catch last season. Then if Jordan Whittington and Troy Omeire can get and stay healthy, the Texas offense could be far more dynamic.
