The percentage of Queensland Rail’s Citytrain services meeting on-time running figures has also dropped below target levels since January, department data shows.
The number of stations skipped by Queensland trains in the first four months of 2022 has jumped more than 30 per cent from the same period last year, as the state battled COVID-19 waves and floods.
The percentage of Citytrain services meeting the on-time target has dropped from 97 per cent to 94 per cent between January and April.On-time running — the portion of services arriving within four minutes of their scheduled time, or six minutes for Gold Coast, Rosewood and Sunshine Coast trains — has also slipped this year and is yet to recover.
He said unplanned disruptions such as passenger medical emergencies, technical faults and rail-line issues could result in decisions to run a train express past stations to minimise flow-on delays.
