More than 8 million people are set to receive the second part of the £900 means-tested cost of living payment.
Millions of households across Great Britain are set to receive the next instalment of the £900 cost of living payment support, worth £300 this Autumn, with a further £299 due next Spring. No confirmed details about a payment window or the qualifying period have been announced by the UK Government yet, despite widespread online speculation.
So far this financial year, some 8.3million cost of living payments for £301 were made in May and June to people in receipt of a qualifying means-tested benefit from the DWP or HM Revenue and Customs . At the end of June and beginning of July, a further 6.4m payments for £150 were made to people claiming disability benefits.£300 means-tested cost of living payment Below is a checklist that should help you understand whether or not you will be due the £300 payment.
If you’re getting Tax Credits from HMRC and a low income benefit from DWP, you will be paid by DWP only. If you’re getting both Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit, you will receive the £300 for Child Tax Credit only, which will be paid by HMRC.Single and joint claims Payments are made per claim. This means if you have a joint claim on the qualifying dates , a single payment of £300 will be sent using the same payment method, if you’re eligible.
This is because Pension Credit is a retrospective benefit that can be backdated by up to three months, which will most-likely take it to within the qualifying period - which hasn’t been announced yet. It’s fair to assume this will happen as it has been the case for last year’s cost of living payments and the £301 paid in May.
Pension Credit in a nutshell Pension Credit gives people extra money to help with their living costs if they are over State Pension age and on a low income. It can also provide access to a range of other benefits such as help with housing costs, Council Tax, heating bills and for those aged 75 or over, a free TV licence.
