Four Houston-area barbecue joints found their way onto Southern Living magazine’s list of “The South’s Top 50 Barbecue Joints.”
“The South’s Top 50 Barbecue Joints.”
The four selections — Truth BBQ in Houston, Blood Bros. BBQ in Bellaire, Killen’s Barbecue in Pearland, and Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue in Tomball — are indeed among the area’s cream of the crop. They join 11 other Texas barbecue joints on the list, proving the Lone Star State’s smoked meat prowess, not just in the South but nationwide.
That trend plays out in the inclusion of Blood Bros. BBQ’s Asian-inflected ’cue, and other Texas barbecue joints on the list including Hurtado Barbecue’s “Mexicue” in Arlington and Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ in Austin. The other Texas joints on the list include Burnt Bean Co. in Seguin, LeRoy & Lewis in Austin, Kruez Market in Lockhart, Smitty’s in Lockhart, Cattleack Barbecue in Dallas, Franklin Barbecue in Ausint, Goldee’s Bar-B-Q in Fort Worth, Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor, and Snow’s BBQ in Lexington.
