48 arrested in human-trafficking and sexual exploitation investigation in San Diego, National City [Breaking]
A monthlong investigation into human trafficking and sexual exploitation in San Diego and National City by federal, state and local officers netted 48 arrests and the identification of 41 victims and survivors, including eight children, officials announced Tuesday.
Victims and survivors identified by the task force were provided assistance from adult and juvenile support service advocates, as well as access to resources and supportive services. “Human trafficking and sexual exploitation destroy lives,” Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a statement. “Through Operation Better Pathways, we’re fighting to hold perpetrators accountable and help survivors get a fresh start.”
Those arrested were referred to the county District Attorney’s Office, the San Diego City Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for possible criminal prosecution.
