SANTA CLARA — Still no Nick Bosa? Correct, and still no panic from 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan.
Bosa did post an Instagram picture earlier Tuesday from a skyscraper amid New York City, perhaps signaling that business is picking up between his agent, Brian Ayrault and the 49ers’ brass. Bosa led the league with a career-high 18 1/2 sacks last season en route to NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors. Rather than play this season on his rookie contract’s fifth-year option at $18 million, Bosa figures to command the wealthiest contract for a non-quarterback in NFL history, and the largest in 49ers’ history.
“You keep three when you have three,” Shanahan said. “In the NFL, it’s hard with the 53-man roster; you’d like to keep two so you get another position somewhere. I don’t think the new rule will change that.”
