Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe scrambles for a touchdown run past Mississippi State cornerback Decamerion Richardson during the first half of an NCAA college football game, Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, in Starkville, Miss.No. 11 Alabama is coming off a win on the road in Starkville, Mississippi and now looks to roll into Kyle Field and continue its reign in the SEC West.
Milroe had a slow start in his first two appearances but has seemed to mesh well into his role as a dual-threat quarterback who has the ability to fix broken plays using his legs. The Texas native can outrun anyone on the field and has the body mass to break any tackler that tries to stop him.In his last two starts, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound four-star threw for 389 yards, rushed for 97 and had two rushing touchdowns.
The last time he faced A&M, Milroe rushed 17 times for 81 yards and threw for three touchdowns on 19 attempts inIn the SEC, the Crimson Tide defense is in the Top 5 in tackles, sacks and interceptions. Two large reasons for that: freshman defensive back Caleb Downs and junior edge rusher Dallas Turner.Downs leads the team in total tackles with 40 and has also tallied an interception and pass deflection as well. Turner is leading the team in sacks with 5.
Fortunately for A&M, its offensive line has done an impressive job at protecting its quarterback. The Aggies have given up only six sacks so far this season, which is the second-best in the SEC.It’s safe to say Alabama head coach Nick Saban has had a legendary career at the collegiate level. Saban has won seven national championships, 10 conference championships and 12-time national coach of the year honors.
Fisher has the chance to become the first coach who worked under Saban to defeat him twice in less than two years. On Saturday, the No. 11 Alabama will look to waltz into College Station and take control of the SEC West. As of last Saturday, A&M and Alabama both have an overall 4-1 record and a 2-0 record in the SEC. In other words, the winner will sit at the top of the SEC West with a clear path to the SEC Championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 2.
