Unsurprisingly, his show was equally as theatrical – featuring a surprise appearance from a Hollywood actor.
The starting point for Reed’s autumn/winter 2023 collection was Shakespeare’s famous quote from. “It really encompasses what my brand is about, which is really about performance and playing with gender,” the designer explains of the line’s significance. The round format of the show, held inside the Tate Modern, fit the theme perfectly – with the models serenaded by two cellists as they made their way down the runway.
Taking inspiration from Henry Moore’s sculptures, the silhouettes in this collection were even more fluid than in previous seasons. “In the past, we’ve stuck to half skirt, half jacket [in our designs] but this season we’ve taken a lot of shapes around the body,” Reed explains. “One of the finale dresses is actually based on a gold sash that’s wrapped all the way around the body.
