Pharmacy Guild of Australia national president Trent Twomey claims the 60-prescription initiative has been “cooked up by bureaucrats” without consulting frontline healthcare professionals.
Mr Twomey revealed he has had a brief conversation with Health Minister Mark Butler since the initiative was announced but stressed there is a “big disconnect”.
“This isn’t just the Pharmacy Guild, we’ve had the Pharmaceutical Society, we’ve even had the pharmacy students, we’ve had the Australasian College of Pharmacy, the education body,” he told Sky News Australia. “They have all come in to meet with their local MP, with their local senator to say, ‘what you are being told is wrong’.”

A Queensland resident called the hazard reduction burns “hazard creation burning” because the smoke from the burn-offs is affecting many people.
