More housing, retail and medical care facilities are coming to the near north side of Indianapolis.
A massive redevelopment project of several buildings on North Meridian Street will bring housing, retail and medical care facilities to the near north side of Indianapolis.Here are details of the developments, the combined costs of which are $65 million.The vacant 40,000-square-foot building at 1840 N. Meridian St. and parking lot on Illinois Street was previously owned by Indianapolis Public Schools and used as office space but has been vacant for seven years.
“Those things contribute to reducing costs for patients, i.e., not having to drive to the primary care facility,” he said.As an Indianapolis resident, Chastain said he hopes improved access to primary and mental health care along the Red Line will improve accessibility and general public health in the city.
The apartments, located in currently-vacant buildings from 1815 to 1835 North Meridian Street, will offer affordable, workforce and market-rate units for patients and employees of Adult and Child Health.
