Twenty-five people were shot, seven fatally, over the weekend across Chicago.
A 25-year-old man died after he was shot in the stomach and thigh just after 7 p.m. Friday. Police said the victim was involved in a narcotics transaction in the 7000 block of South Eggleston Avenue when someone produced a handgun and shot him.
Police said a woman in her mid 20s was killed Saturday when someone fired shots outside a home in the 3900 block of West Wilcox Street. A group of people were sitting on an outside porch just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday when a fight broke out and someone began shooting, striking the woman in the head and grazing a 27-year-old man. The woman later died. The man was hospitalized in good condition.
