While many movies give accurate perspectives on the horrors of war, many others have shocked audiences with their inaccuracies and poor storylines.
Hollywood has made a great many war movies over the decades, and while some have honestly portrayed the horrors and events of war, other films have dropped the ball completely when it comes to historical and emotional accuracy. These movies have either embellished certain events to achieve an agenda or add dramatic flair, or they have lacked the proper research to create an accurate film.
Aside from historical problems, Braveheart also struggled with military accuracy. The most significant issue that plagued the film was its poor portrayal of the Battle of Stirling Bridge, namely, that the movie didn't feature a bridge. Where the military genius of the battle lay in Wallace's ability to wait until enough British soldiers were on the bridge before charging, the film completely skipped this aspect of the battle.
Although much of The Hurt Locker includes scenes of EOD soldiers physically dismantling bombs, this scenario wouldn't actually occur. Instead, soldiers often used robotics and other explosives to offset the bombs, rather than approaching them face-to-face. In this sense, all the film's stressful scenes are actually highly dramatized and fictional.
