Americans have gloomy view about the future with 71% predicting the U.S. will be ‘less important’ by 2050
Americans are not happy about the current state of the country, and don’t expect it to get better in the future.
According to a new poll from PewResearch Center, 66% of American adults say they think the U.S. economy will be “weaker” in 2050, compared to just 32% who say it will be stronger. Oftentimes, polls attempt to get a snapshot of the public at a specific moment, whether its about the current state of the economy, or months before an election. But a poll asking Americans to predict how the U.S. will be performing in 25 years is more rare, so this poll offers a unique view into the public psyche on a subject that is not as frequently polled.
58% of respondents in Pew’s latest poll say that life for people like them is worse today compared to 50 years ago. This common critique could be due to a psychological bias.
