Like all great Porsches the 928 S feels hewn from a solid billet of steel, with nary a creak or rattle from the bodywork. The instruments, mounted in a binnacle that moves with the height adjustable steering wheel and are clear and easy to read, and you don't have to hunt and peck around a swarm of buttons or through a maze of menus to control things like the lights and wipers and air conditioning and audio system.

But it's not one to be cosseted or pampered—it's just as unfussed going to the corner shop for Sunday's paper and a pint of milk as it is pulling 6,000 rpm through the gears on the way to that awesome 165 mph top end."
