Like most places in Nottinghamshire, the area is quite a bit different to how it used to look
Hyson Green is a neighbourhood in Nottinghamin the city. There is plenty to do in the area, and the Forest Recreation Ground at the heart of the suburb hosts dozens of events each year.which attracts thousands of people to the city from all over the country. However, the area also used to be home to its own racecourse and grandstand.
This racecourse was first established in 1689 and was four miles long originally, then it was halved in 1730 before eventually closing in the 1890s. We have picked eight of our favourite photos from our archives that show what the area used to be like, and how different it is to today.
