An 8-year-old boy was shot and critically injured in Dallas on Sunday evening.
Dallas police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex located at 8001 Rothington Road around 9:30 p.m. on July 2.
Neighbors told NBC 5 they were outside in the parking lots of nearby properties when gunfire rang out. “Right after the fireworks, and we heard, like, six shots, probably five or six shots," Jerica said."We just started ducking with our kids to make sure all the kids was okay." Shortly after, all eyes were on a corner apartment. Dallas police said an eight-year-old boy was shot while in bed. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
"There was ambulances and heard the screaming of a woman," Victor Varela said. Varela lives in the same property as the victim."It's concerning because they were just in their house and then because of somebody else… the child got hurt."
