Scientists are now gearing up for the construction of the first of four gigantic neutrino particle detectors.
Deep beneath the surface of South Dakota lies the Sanford Underground Research Laboratory, where work is underway to study mysterious particles. “The actual excavation took only a year, which is amazing,” said Jaehoon Yu, a professor of physics at the University of Texas , Arlington.
Studying these strange particles is highly important for better understanding the mysterious universe. Additionally, this lab will help solve some of the most pressing challenges in the cosmos. As per the press release, the detectors will be filled with liquid argon to record the rare interactions of neutrinos.
