Former treasurer Josh Frydenberg has spoken for the first time against Scott Morrison’s ministerial appointments, calling the saga an “extreme overreach”.

Mr Frydenberg’s comments, which were detailed in a new book, come on the same day former High Court justice Virginia Bell is expected to hand the findings of a three-month investigation into the matter to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Mr Frydenberg says he does not believe Mr Morrison had a reason to take on the additional Treasury portfolio, and it was wrong for the former prime minister to not have made the decision transparent.
