Treasurer Jim Chalmers says he’s not into “second-guessing” or “taking shots” at the Reserve Bank.
On Tuesday, the Reserve Bank of Australia lifted the official cash rate by 50 basis points – to 0.85 per cent.
Mr Chalmers spoke to Sky News Australia about a flagged review into the Reserve Bank and its function. “My interest in the Reserve Bank review is to make sure that we’ve got the objectives and the targets and the personnel and the institutions right to get that balance between monetary policy at their end and fiscal policy at our end, right,” Mr Chalmers told Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood.
