Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko says it’s important Australia carries on supporting Ukraine.

“Russians are pursuing a chauvinistic plan of reviving an empire, and Vladimir Putin is on a mission,” he told Sky News Australia.

“I think the world needs to stop him, including Australia, which is supporting Ukraine, which is sending military assistance to Ukraine, providing humanitarian assistance. “It’s important that Australia carries on doing it because that’s a vital investment into the future, into the security, into the Indo-Pacific, into the standards of living here in Australia.”

Europe ‘retired’ coal for renewables and now it ‘badly’ needs gasEurope ‘retired’ coal for renewables and now it ‘badly’ needs gasEurope is 'badly' in need of gas supply as most of its nations have retired too much of their baseload generation for renewable energy, Sky News host Chris Kenny says. Mr Kenny acknowledged the impact the Eastern conflict is having on the supply chain. 'There's no doubt the Ukraine war and the impact on Russian gas supplies and prices is a factor that is exacerbating Europe's pain,' he said. 'But in the main, the problem is that most European nations have retired too much baseload generation, mainly coal of course, and they've pushed too hard on boosting renewable energy. 'It can't do the job, and simply never will unless there is an unthinkable breakthrough in effective and efficient electricity storage.'

‘Hold my beer’: Anthony Albanese ‘trying to be as popular as Hawke’‘Hold my beer’: Anthony Albanese ‘trying to be as popular as Hawke’Sky News host Chris Kenny says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has a “bit to live up to as Labor leader”. “I mean he's tried to rewrite history and claim he admired Bob Hawke, when in reality young Albo was a firebrand leftist opponent of Hawke government policies,” he said. Mr Kenny said many politicians “try to be as popular as Hawke” and Mr Albanese’s attempt was sculling a beer at a rock concert. “Maybe Albanese is trying to emulate another politician, maybe he's been watching the attention-grabbing antics of Finland's prime minister,” Mr Kenny said. “Yep, maybe Albo took one look at Finnish PM Sanna Marin and said ‘hold my beer’.”

Since then, his staunchly conservative agenda has seen him rise among the top of the ranks as a potential GOP presidential candidate for 2024. The Florida primaries are underway and Mr DeSantis remains the sole Republican candidate. Mr DeSantis has led in most polls and will start as the general-election favourite irrespective of who wins the Democratic nomination.

Morrison’s self-appointments were ‘unnecessary and undisclosed’Morrison’s self-appointments were ‘unnecessary and undisclosed’Sky News host Chris Kenny says just because Labor is capitalising on news of former prime minister Scott Morrison’s self-appointed secret ministries, it “doesn’t mean there’s no substance to it”. “This was a secret and damaging attack on the principle of Cabinet government, on the crucial transparency and accountability of government,” he said. “Scott Morrison doesn't seem to understand that apologising to his colleagues doesn't really cut it, he needs to apologise to the parliament and to the public.” Mr Kenny said the release of the Solicitor-General’s advice “tells us in short what we already know” and proves there was nothing illegal about Mr Morrison’s actions but criticised the secrecy. “Plainly enough, says the solicitor-general, it is impossible for the parliament to hold ministers to account for the administration of departments if it does not know which ministers are responsible for which departments,” Mr Kenny said. “None of Morrison's explanations make sense, except for his power sharing arrangement with Health Minister Greg Hunt, which they agreed to and was publicised to at least some degree – all the other appointments were both unnecessary and undisclosed.”

Political consequence for Morrison’s secret portfolio actions should be ‘severe’Political consequence for Morrison’s secret portfolio actions should be ‘severe’Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles says the political consequence for former prime minister Scott Morrison’s secret portfolio actions should be “severe”. “What Scott Morrison has done is undermine the Westminster system of government, and in the process, he has treated the Australian people with complete contempt,” Mr Marles told Sky News Australia. “To treat the Australian people with contempt in the way that he did, just keeping Australians in the dark, treating his own colleagues with contempt and treating the cabinet with contempt, surely that comes with a significant and a severe political consequence. “And I’m really interested to see from the Liberal Party, from the Opposition, about what they think that’s appropriate to be.”
