Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says there is internal dissent in the New South Wales government over forcing construction workers to vaccinate before they can go on sites.

Construction workers living in Sydney’s most locked-down LGAs will be able to return to unoccupied work sites from Wednesday.

Sites will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity and will welcome workers who are vaccinated. “Tanya Davies, who threatened to move to the crossbench and threaten Berejiklian’s majority two years ago over abortion legislation, has joined the minister Anthony Roberts in saying they are prepared to vote against this policy,” Mr Clennell said.

“Gladys Berejiklian has a minority government at the moment. Some of her ministers believe the only way out of the outbreak is to have vaccination-only pubs and restaurants come October and November. “This shows some of the opposition within the Liberal Party and the religious right of that party to anything resembling mandatory vaccination – something we might need to get 80 per cent coverage.”
