Victoria’s Health Minister Martin Foley has backed up the state’s risk-averse lockdown decision after 19 infections were recorded overnight.
The new cases bring the state’s total outbreak to 43 positive infections which have all be linked to two separate Sydney incursions.
Of the new infections only one was isolating and 18 were in the community and possibly spreading the virus for the entire period of time. Seven cases have been linked to three separate schools across Melbourne and three linked to a restaurant visited by an infectious case. Finally, the one case which has been isolating for the entirety of their infectious period was linked to the City of Hume household.
