Academy of Ideas Director Claire Fox has slammed the “promiscuous’” use of “delegitimising” terms such as bigots, Nazis and fascists, following Kellie-Jay Keen being attacked at a women’s rights protest in New Zealand.

“If you get away with calling people ‘far-right bigots’ and ‘Nazis’ and ‘fascists’ and dehumanising them as was done about who we know as Posie Parker, then what you do is you legitimise violence,” Ms Fox told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“If I thought there were a bunch of real Nazi fascists in town, then that would make me think ‘god, we’ve got to go and stop them’.” “So they’re whipping this up about everyone and anyone and that’s why I think this promiscuous use of the delegitimising way that people are called these terrible names … is going to lead to scenes as we saw in New Zealand.”
