Mark McGowan has hit out at Gladys Berejiklian after the New South Wales Premier declared 'we now have to live with Delta one way or another' amid her state's COVID outbreak.

Mr McGowan, the Western Australia Premier, said the approach of his New South Wales counterpart was not in the nation's interest because Australia needed to suppress and"get rid" of the virus. Mr McGowan said that was not an acceptable position for a leader to have, adding"we can't have one state surrendering" to the Delta variant.
Mr McGowan previously hinted at enforcing an indefinite hard border with NSW unless the state can"crush and kill the virus".Last month Mr McGowan said he found it"odd" Sydney residents in lockdown are being"flippant" about the deadly impact of COVID-19. "It's an odd thing – I've seen some of the images and it's odd that they are so flippant about it.
