A new report by the CSIRO has revealed only two in five Australians are eating enough vegetables. According to the report, construction workers had the poorest diets, while retirees and those in the fitness industry were the healthiest eaters. “With an average score of 55 out of 100 that would suggest there’s a lot of areas of our diet quality that we could improve,” says CSIRO Research Scientist Dr Gilly Hendrie. “Things like reducing our discretionary foods – all those unhealthy, high fat, high salt, high sugar foods,' Ms Hendie told Sky news Australia. “If we could move those off our plates – we would make space for more healthy foods like vegetables, dairy foods, healthy fats. “Our variety is lacking a bit as well.”

Government secures Greens’ support for housing billThe government has struck a deal with the Greens on its housing bill, earning the minor party’s support. Greens leader Adam Bandt says the minor party has managed to secure a guaranteed $500 million a year to be spent on housing. “Today, the Greens have secured an additional $1 billion that will be spent this year directly on public and community housing,” he said during a media conference on Monday.
