An elderly man has been left unconscious in his own home after being attacked by a group of “cowardly” thugs east of Melbourne.
Police said two or three men broke into the Tarago Court house in Warragul about 7.10pm on Wednesday.
They confronted the 90-year-old resident and demanded money before they attacked and punched him several times, leaving him unconscious.The elderly man was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. Baw Baw Crime Investigation Unit detective Senior Constable Ashley Bell described it as a “cowardly attack on an elderly frail person”.
“It’s a relief he’s only suffered minor injuries at this point but given his age it’s very concerning,” he told 3AW radio.Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area at the time, or has any information, to contact
