Sky News host Sharri Markson says “a fight is brewing” within the Liberal Party over the federal government’s stance on emissions reduction and climate change.
Ms Sharri said a “group” of federal Liberal politicians, “many from the moderate faction… are demanding the Morrison government take more action on climate change”.
It comes as Labor Leader Anthony Albanese had refused to outline his own party’s climate reduction targets for 2030 saying instead the party would announce “longer-term” targets. Ms Sharri said a “fight is brewing” because conservative MP’s “say enough is being done to reduce emissions”. “The fact remains,” Ms Sharri said, that “neither of Australia's two major political parties have an integrated climate change policy to reduce emissions and this isn't about to change anytime soon”.

Labor's climate hypocrisy exposed by axing emissions targets | Sky News AustraliaSky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton\n\nLabor has spent several months blaming the devastating of Australia’s deadly bushfires on the Coalition’s supposed climate change inaction.\n\nFor those who view politics through a cursory lens it would appear Labor were the ones pushing for tough emissions reductions measures.\n\nBut in a trainwreck interview for Anthony Albanese, which aired on Sky News this morning, the party’s hypocrisy has been exposed.\n\nMr Albanese has no climate policies. No emissions reductions targets at all.\n\nThe Coalition will reduce emissions by 26 per cent by 2030 using 2005 levels as a baseline.\n\nMr Albanese and Labor have no counter to that figure and the opportunistic Labor leader has awkwardly revealed he has no plans to produce one.\n\nNot having climate change targets of their own shows Labor is just using the issue for short-term gain.\n\nMr Albanese argues the science is settled. If that is the case then he should have no problems producing a policy solution for climate change.\n\nIf the science wont change between now and the next election it doesn’t matter when Labor’s plan is released.\n\nUnless of course he cares more about votes than saving the planet.\n\n“The climate is changing – and we’re seeing the consequences right now,” MR Albanese wrote on Twitter today.\n\n“Our natural environment is one of our most precious assets. It must be protected.”\n\nEmpty, hollow rhetoric which solves nothing.\n\nFor a party which claims to follow the science its sloganeering is curiously devoid of practical solutions.\n\nDespite what the feral left will say, this writer accepts the findings contained in ICCP reports.\n\nThe dispute is about how a country strikes a balance between energy reform by minimising economic damage and maximising environmental impact.\n\nIt could be argued that maximum emissions reduction impact would be gained from scrapping the Paris Agreement which allows China to increase its emissions infinitely from 13,000 mega
