ndrew Testa’s photographs tell the stories of individuals, organisations, and communities across the UK who are welcoming people who were forced to flee their homes in other countries. From diverse origins, they enrich our communities in myriad ways, building bridges and adding immeasurable value to our society.

Citizens of the World Choir describes itself as a musical family that celebrates the artistry, heritage and humanity of people seeking sanctuary, and their allies. It advocates for understanding, dignity and kindness through the transformative impact of music and song. The choir was set up by Becky Dell and Tess Berry-Hart and is a unique mix of people who would not meet under other circumstances, coming together once a week to sing together and share their experiences.
Wafa Murad, 37, from Qamishli, Syria lives in the small town of Rothesay on the Isle of Bute in Scotland with her two sons Lalesh, 18, and Avinash, 11. They were resettled there under the UK’sin October 2021 from Dohuk, Iraq. The close community in Rothesay has welcomed Wafa and her family with open arms. Wafa is now volunteering in local charity shops and helping other refugees to settle into their new lives in Scotland.
